Child pension
Children's rights
Child pension is paid upon the death of a parent/guardian for the fund members’ children and foster- and stepchildren until they are 19 years old. The right to child pension is also inherent if the parent/guardian has been affected by loss of income due to disability and they are receiving the disability pension.
Foster- and stepchildren who have been dependent upon a fund member either mostly or entirely are entitled the same.
The conditions for payment of child pension are that the parent/guardian has paid contributions to the fund for at least 24 months in the preceding 36 months or are receiving retirement/disiability pension upon death.
Child pension is paid to the dependent child. Full child pension due to the death of a parent/guardian is ISK 9,903 per month, which is paid if the annual premium base is at least ISK 500,000.
If the contribution base is lower, the child pension is reduced proportionally and is cancelled if the base corresponds to less than half of this amount..
